1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Thriftby (thriftby.com) or any Thriftby mobile application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the platform. These terms apply to all users including customers, service providers, and visitors.

2. About Thriftby

Thriftby Inc. (Corp. No. 1558967-3, BN: 709678213RC0001) operates an online marketplace connecting customers with independent service providers across Canada. Thriftby does not employ service providers — all providers are independent contractors. Thriftby provides the platform, verification process, and payment infrastructure.

3. Provider Verification

Thriftby requires all service providers to submit government-issued identification and complete our verification process before becoming active on the platform. While we take reasonable steps to verify provider identity and conduct background reviews, Thriftby does not guarantee the accuracy of any verification outcome. Customers are responsible for making their own judgement when booking services.

4. Escrow Payments

All payments are processed securely via Stripe. Customer payments are held in escrow until the customer confirms job completion. Once confirmed, funds are released to the provider. Thriftby charges a platform commission on each transaction. Disputed payments are handled on a case-by-case basis.

5. Cancellations & Refunds

Customers may cancel a booking before the provider has confirmed acceptance at no charge. Cancellations after provider acceptance may be subject to a cancellation fee. Refunds for disputed or incomplete work are reviewed by Thriftby support. All refund decisions are final.

6. Prohibited Conduct

Users must not: misrepresent their identity or qualifications, use the platform for illegal services, attempt to circumvent platform payments, harass or threaten other users, post false reviews, or share personal contact information to bypass the platform.

7. Limitation of Liability

Thriftby is a marketplace platform and is not liable for the actions, quality of work, or conduct of independent service providers. Thriftby's maximum liability to any user shall not exceed the amount paid in connection with the relevant booking. Thriftby is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
