How Thriftby works for pros
Set your rates, get verified, and start earning. Here's everything you need to know.
Apply and get verified
Complete our 6-step application — basic info, services, profile photo, government ID, and any certifications — then pass a Triton criminal record check. Your account is activated only once the check clears. We review applications within 2–3 business days.
Set your rates and availability
You control your hourly rate, the services you offer, and when you're available. No minimums, no restrictions. Set your own prices.
Go online and get bookings
Toggle online in the app when you're ready to work. Verified customers in your area can see you and book instantly.
Complete the job
Head to the customer, do great work, and update your status in the app. The customer receives a notification to confirm completion.
Get paid automatically
The moment the customer confirms the job is done, your payment is released from escrow to your account. Stripe then deposits it to your bank on a daily rolling schedule.

No platform-imposed ceiling. Charge what your skills are worth. Minimum $15/hr.
Platform commission: 9%
Thriftby keeps 9% of each completed booking and you keep 91%. No subscription, no monthly fees — you only pay when you earn.
No lead fees, ever
You never pay to see a job or to quote on one. On lead-fee directories you pay for shared leads whether or not you win the work; on Thriftby you pay nothing until a customer has paid for a finished job.
Payout timing
Released instantly on customer confirmation; deposited daily to your Canadian bank account via Stripe Connect.
One-time background check
Applying is free. The only upfront cost is the $39.99 CAD Triton criminal record check, which is required before activation. After that you only pay commission when you earn.
Verification
Government ID
Submit a driver's licence, passport, PR card, or provincial ID. Reviewed by our admin team.
Profile photo
A clear, front-facing photo. Shown to customers before they book you.
Criminal record check (required)
Completed through Triton after you apply. Your account cannot accept bookings until an admin has reviewed a cleared result. Customers see the result on your profile and at checkout.
Liability insurance ($2M recommended)
Upload a certificate of commercial general liability insurance with at least $2M coverage. Once verified, you get an Insured badge next to your Police Cleared badge — the combination customers look for.
Certifications (optional)
RMT registration, trade certificates, first aid, food handler, WSIB clearance — all increase your bookings.
